Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Industries, Mines and Geology, Govt. of Jharkhand on March 19, 2025, issued the amendment to the Jharkhand Mineral Bearing Land Cess Rule, 2024.

Schedule -1, shall be substituted. It states that the cess rates for mineral-bearing land in Jharkhand are: 

• ₹250/MT for coal, ₹400/MT for iron ore, ₹116/MT for non-metallurgical bauxite, 0.30% of LME aluminium price for metallurgical bauxite, ₹40/MT for limestone, 2% of LBMA price for primary gold, 1.65% for by-product gold, 2.31% of LME copper price, 4.25% (ore) and 7.25% (concentrate) of LME lead price, 

• ₹12.50/MT for graphite (<20% fixed carbon), ₹112.5/MT (>80% fixed carbon), ₹121/MT for kyanite, 1% of UCIL’s annual compensation for uranium, and 

• for other minerals, cess is based on annual value or the Second Schedule of MMDR Act, 1957, if no sale price is available.
